I have been hearing a lot of different stories about how some craft boutiques and galleries are doing well while others are closing.  Does anyone have anything they would be willing to share regarding having their work in these places and the shop is closing - what to do next?  Or if you are having success, what do you think attributes to it?

I have been lucky to have my items sell at a local store/boutique.  Although I never expect much from January regarding sales, I was pleasantly surprised that there were some good sales overall.  I feel it is due to the fact I am in a niche market that isn't suffering - garden and aromatherapy items that are reasonably priced.  Of course it may not be considered art, but everything I do make I handcraft myself - starting from gathering ingredients in my own garden(s).  What I am creating is something people want and for me that is what may make or break some people.  Of course more people coming to shops helps, but this is something no one can predict during slow months.
